Precautions for Using Table Top Cold Centrifuge

A table top cold centrifuge is an essential laboratory device primarily used for the separation, concentration, purification, and extraction of suspended substances in sample solutions. To ensure the accuracy of experimental results, extend the service life of the equipment, and ensure the safety of operators, this article focuses on several important precautions when using a table top cold centrifuge.

Equipment Inspection and Preparation

Before using the table top cold centrifuge, it is essential to check whether the rotor cover and centrifuge tubes are airtight, undamaged, and clean. The centrifuge tubes should be placed symmetrically, and the corresponding tubes should be of approximately equal weight, ensuring the samples are not overfilled. After selecting the appropriate rotor and setting the parameters, observe the centrifuge for a while. Only after it reaches the desired speed and is operating stably should you leave the machine unattended.

Safety Operating Procedures of Table Top Cold Centrifuge

When using the table top cold centrifuge, it is crucial to follow safety operating procedures. For instance, if any abnormal noises or unusual odors are detected during operation, immediately apply the brake, press the "Stop" button, and if necessary, cut off the power supply. It is strictly prohibited to open the centrifuge lid while it is running. Additionally, when using the centrifuge for samples with biological hazards, the rotor should undergo high-temperature sterilization. The sterilization temperature should not exceed 121°C, and the duration should not exceed 20 minutes.

Maintenance and Care of Table Top Cold Centrifuge

Proper maintenance and care of the table top cold centrifuge are essential for its long-term stable operation. After each use, the condensation water tray should be removed, the condensation water should be emptied, and the tray should be cleaned. It is important to develop the habit of cleaning and maintaining the centrifuge to keep it clean and in good condition. Notably, after completing the use of the table top cold centrifuge, do not close the lid immediately. Instead, allow the moisture, condensation water, and any corrosive gases inside the centrifuge chamber to evaporate, and wait for it to return to room temperature before closing the lid.

When using a table top cold centrifuge, paying attention to the above precautions is essential. These measures not only help improve the efficiency and quality of experiments but also effectively prevent safety accidents, ensuring the personal safety of operators.
